29 September 2019 Update

I have not kept up with the updates as I have written them this month. I converted 15 of my pages to the new block editor. I continue to write and finished most of 1985. I also wrote a story under “Stories–Other” called “The Meanest Man”. I also added a new page under about this blog called “Connie – Through My Eyes”

29 September 2019 Update

I decided to do my work off line this month and post at the end of the month. I have written about the year 1984 and wrote a story that happened that year “The Russian — 1984”. I also converted the “About This Blog” to the Block Editor. You will not see any changes to the pages it just that we are suppose to have all of our stuff in the new format by the end of this year or next. I have also begun running some of the pages through an editor called Grammarly that should help with some of my grammar mistakes. This month I ran a few of the funnies through it and am using it on all new pages.

28 August 2019 Update

While, I have not posted many updates I have been writing off line about 1982 and 1983. I decided to put our trip to Sint Maarten and Saint Martin that we took in 1983 under trips where it belongs. I am still working on 1983 and hope to finish it before I send out the next update.

18 August 2019 Update

It feel like forever since I have written in the blog. My computer kept crashing and I finally got a new one set up. I finished writing about the Hawaii trip and Thanksgiving 1982. I put the stories others in the correct other. I had started editing that with Grammarly to correct all my mistakes but I lost all that work and will have to redo it. I had also converted it to the new editor which I also lost. Hope to get more done the next couple of weeks.

31 July 2019 Update

I just posted a new page under “Our Story (80-XX)” — “Sacrificial Love 1982 & 1983”. The story so for goes through early November 1982. It includes a gallery of 14 pictures most of them of Connie and I from Hawaii. I hope to finish 1982 ad 1983 next month. The music I selected for this page was “My True Love” by Jake Scott.

I just posted an update to “Stories — Others” called “The Blackout – Summer 1967”. Since I had just posted a story about me before I met Connie. I decided to post one about Connie before she met me. These are stories we shared with each other many times. I am trying to finish up the year 1982 before I publish the blog at the end of the month.

20 July 2019 Update

I just posted an update to “The Funnies” called “Sprichst du Deutsch”. While this happen before I met Connie I decided to post it because she always like the story. I am currently writing about the year 1982 and have gotten to October of that year. I hope to finish it and 1983 before the end of the month.

17 July 2019 Update

As of right now I do not have update.I cannot believe I have not written yet this month. The first 10 days of July I was sick with a bad sinus infection and then I had to catch up on the work I do for the church, then I had computer problems. I will see what I can get done during the rest of July.

I have been continuing to work offline on the years 1980 and 1981. So I may be changing the title of that page to “Sacrificial Love — 80-81. I think I am done except for one more little story to add about Christmas 1981. It should be very short and I will finish it in the next couple of day. After that I will probably start a new section as this section is over 13 pages.

15 June 2019 Update

I have added a story to “Stories — The Funnies” called “Underwear and The Coyotes”. It is kind of an embarrassing story that Connie used to tell about me.

07 June 2019 Update

I have been working offline to complete the years 1980 and 1981. I think I am done except for one more little story to add about Christmas 1981. It should be very short and I will finish it in the next couple of day. After that I will probably start a new section as this section is over 13 pages.

I have gone back and update the page “Sacrificial Love –1980”. I inserted a story near the top about a car accident that Connie had in February of 1980. I have highlighted this in blue for now.

27 May 2019 Update

I have been working offline this past week trying to finish 1980 but I stopped yesterday to write the story I just posted under “Stories — Other” — The Ax Murder”. It was such a significant event during the summer of 1980 and had all of this area talking about it. Since we knew people that knew some of the people involved in it was of special interest to us. Only after reading the book that was published several years later did we really understand all that was going on.

I cleaned up the Music page so that it new reflects the song that is on each page. I also spent time at redid the Table of Contents page so that it now reflects all the correct information.

I realized today when I went to update the music table that I had the same song on “Sacrificial Love — The Beginning and Sacrificial Love — Continued 1976. I changed to song on Sacrifical Love — Continued 1976 to “Till I Kissed You” by the Everly Brothers

Today, I decided to do some minor tweaking of the menu structure. Unfortunately that was a mistake as I accidentality delete it. It took me over 3 hours to recreate it and get it back to where I wanted it.

I noticed in reviewing the scholarship page, that I had not assign a song to it. So I added “Little Thigs Mean a Lot” by Kitty Kallen. To Connie it was the little things that counted.

I have added two stories to the “Stories — Others”. One is about an experience I ahd at H&R Block. Connie thought it was funny because it happened to me but I decided to put it in the other section. The other is about a visit to Whataburger.

I was wrong as I had not written about Christmas 1978. I just remembered what we did that year so I have updated the page “Sacrificial Years — The Rest of the 70’s”.

15 March 2019 Update

I know it does not appear from these updates that I have been doing much on the blog but I am. I have been working offline to complete the year 1978 for “Sacrificial Love — The Rest of the 70’s”. It was harder than I thought because I kept trying to put events in the right year. I think that will get even harder for the 80’s and 90’s. The good news is that I have finished 1978 and hope to finish 1979 before the end of the month.

14 March 2019 Update

While, I continue to work on “Sacrificial Love — The Rest of the 70’s”. I thought of something that I wanted to add to Sacrificial Love — 1976. I added a paragraph to the section about Summer / Tornado / New Car. The new paragraph talks about photography but it shows the love Connie had for me.

06 March 2019 Update

I cannot believe what I did. I just realized after I posted the “Crusie Febrraury 2016” I had already published a story about that called “The Last Vacation”. Now I am intrested in reading both of them to see how good my memory was. I published the first one on March 03, 2018 and the last one on February 28, 2019.

I have started working on “Sacrificial Love — The Rest of the 70’s”. I really hope to finish it this month.

28 February 2019 Update

I did not finish “Sacrificial Love — The Rest of the 70’s”. I really struggled with trying to get things In the right order. Hopefully I can clear my mind an finish it next month.

I added a song to “New This Month” called “Running Bear”. It really has nothing to do with Connie and I. I heard this song a couple of weeks ago and it brought back memories of when I got my first transistor radio at Christmas 1958. It was the number one song then.

27 February 2019 Update

I have been working offline on our last cruise that we took. We took it from February 21st through February 28th 2016. So each day, of this corresponding February day, I wrote what we did on that exact day 3 years ago. I have some pictures posted in that page. It turned out to be over 10 pages. I seemed to have remember a lot about certain days. It is under “Trips” – “Cruise February 2016.

I have added a story under “Stories — Connie Stories” called “Underpants Gang Part 1”. I continue to world on :The rest of the 1970’s offline. Right now I am just hoping I can finish 1978 before the end of the month. .

I continue to do this offline and I am struggling trying to get all the events I remember in the right order. During this period of time I am having a hard time recalling in what order they have happen. I have also thought about a funny to add next this month.

I have started working on the next segment under “Our Story” called “Sacrificial Love — The Rest of the 70’s. I am doing this work offline and it is not coming as easy as it did before. Before I would just sit down and start writing but this time I had to sit and jot down notes about things that happened during that time and try to put them in chronological order.

31 December 2018 Update

I have spent a lot of this month learning the new software for writing and editing. It took a while but I was finally able to learn the new way of inserting jumps (indexes) into a page. I have added an index to the new page under “Our Story” — “Sacrificial Years — Continued 1976”. I also added a story to “:The Funnies” called “Barley or Wheat or Oats” .

I have posted a new page under “Our Story” called “Sacrificial Years Continued — 1976 — XXXX”. This is all the work I have done offline so far this month. I have n ot made much progress in the last 11 days as I have had a cold and have been looking for pictures for this page. The other thing slowing me down is the software I am using has made major changes to the writing part and I am facing a learning curve adopting to the new software.

While I have not updated anything on the blog this past week, I continue to work on “Sacrificial Years Continued — 1976-XXXX”. I am doing this offline and am about half way through 1976. I have been spending a lot of my blog time looking for pictures from that time period and selecting more music for the blog. I may start rotting the songs.

I change the picture of our home in “Our Story” — “Sacrificial Love The Beginning” . The one I originally used was taken much later than when we lived there. I went back and found a picture that I had taken in 1975 and used it. I am continuing to write about that year and have been working on some picture of a picnic we went on with Connie’s sisters family.

26 August 2018 Update

I have finished under “Our Story” — ” EDS Starting A Career”. Next I will be staring a new section under “Our Story” which begins in January 1975. I am lookin for ideas on naming this page. It will have to do with the beginning of the Sacrificial Years because that was the year I gor sick and was eventually diagnosis with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Maybe I will call it the “Beginning of the Sacrificial Years” as the title of my blog is Sacrificial Love. Anyone else have other suggestions.

22 August 2018 Update

The music had stopped playing automatically when a page was loaded and I spent several hours over the last two days trying to figure out why. I am not sure I know why it happened but I suspect an upgrade to the software I use WordPress. I found a way to fix it and once I determined that it only took a few minutes on each page to get the music to automatically play on the loading of a page.

I have also decided to change the “About This Blog” saying that are directly next to Connie and my picture with a different saying every month. Most of these will come from information that people on the cancer blog provided to me. I hope in some way they may be helpful to someone..

I am continuing to write about Connie and my experiences in Dallas starting in November of 1973. I have covered our trip to Dallas and the first week of my classes during the Phase II program. It will appear under “Our Story — EDS Starting a Career”.

I continue working on the pictures of Connie’ first communion. I am now working on those picture she had taken with her and her father and her mother. They will appear later this month in “About Connie”.

I have updated “Our Story” – “EDS Starting A Career” with the events of the summer of 1973. This will take us to November of that year when I left Indiana. I will start there next. . I have also updated the picture gallery of “About Connie: with some more early pictures of her.

I have been spending a lot of time working on all the old pictures that her mother left us and will use them to create future galleries of pictures.

16 June 2018 Update

I have selected a song for the “About Sparkie” page and it is “One Boy” by Joanne Sommers. There was a certain verse there that just spoke to me. I also made minor changes to the page. I am continuing to work on the summer of 1973 offline and will post when I am finished. I have also updated the “Music Selection” page.

10 June 2018 Update

I have added before the summer of 1973 what the company Electronic Data Systems (EDS) was all about as I will spend the next 32 year there. It will also give you an insight in too what Connie and my first 18 months with the company were about.

I also updated the ” Grief” page with a poem by Kelly A Polley called “A Wish Come True”. As like other pages this will be at the top and I will move it at the end of next month.

I have updated the page “Our Story” — “EDS Starting A Career”. There was so much going on that first week that all I got done this month, one week of this part of the story but it will go much faster now. Updated the “Grief” page with a personal story of how a person was feeling after suffering the loss of their husband. Today would have been our 48th anniversary. Happy anniversary Connie.

I have added a new page called “Grief” to the blog. It is intended to help those who want to know what or what not to do when someone has lost a loved one. The music I selected for this page is “There You Will Be” by Faith Hill because I was blessed to have you in my life.

I have started a new page called “Remembrances” . It will be located under “In Memory”. This page will contain things that I have done to keep her memory alive for me and others. I am starting this page with a picture of a quilt that a friend of a friend made for me out of Connie’s blouses. Thank you Sue. I love the quilt and will always treasure it.

Last night I attended the Allen High School Foundation awards ceremony where they handed out scholarships to the graduating seniors. I have updated the “Scholarship” page with the winner of the second annual winner of the :Connie M. Buntley” scholarship which was Vivian T.

I have completed “The College Years” this update contains memories from January 1st 1973 through May 27th 1973. We left on May 28th for my new job with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Indianapolis, Indiana . I am starting to wonder how much I will remember about the working years as all of know sometime the days seem to run together. I sure wish I had Connie’s input into these memories.

22 April 2018 Update

Believe it or not I am still working on the blog this month even if the updates do not show it. I have spent a lot of time looking at the way I want to handle some of the pictures for this blog. . I have chosen a method called galleries after 2 weeks of trying many different things. I have updated “About Connie” and have enclosed her younger pictures in a gallery called “The Early Years” . Double click on any picture in the gallery and it will open up a larger view and allow you to scroll forward or backwards through all the picture and display the caption. See instructions on that page. I am still working offline on finishing “The College Years” which will takes us through the 27th of May 1973. It should be completed by the end of the month.
